    Tomorrow, Yesterday – To… From… (Mixtape)

    August 25th, 2010

After several very dope shows, and a good amount of new artist buzz, and an extremely ill J.Bizness 3P. 909 crew Tomorrow, Yesterday have dropped To…From (Mixtape) for free download for ya’ll.

2dopeboyz.com presented the official link yesterday and I have to say that it is very dope. Producer A3 provides some dope beats to nod your head to. Please make sure you get it here.

While you’re at it, you would be very smart to grab the J.Bizness 3P they did. Can’t Say Goodbye is my official late night summertime turn it up loud song! Get it HERE

FREE – Oddisee -West Coast Beat-Tape hosted by Trek Life, out now!

    July 22nd, 2010

If this isn’t enough to convince you that you should check for the new album “Everything Changed Nothing” I don’t know what else to tell you lol. Oddisee has put together a collection of West Coast inspired beats for free download.

The beat-tape also feat two full tracks, “Get In Touch,” feat Richard Wright, Belvi & J.Bizness and “So Supreme,” show how the blending of Oddisee’s beats back up Trek Life’s lyrical flow. Even though “Get In Touch” will not be on the full LP, it embraces the same theme as the album and is a good indication, along with “So Supreme” of the high quality of the music Trek Life and Oddisee have been making together.

You can go get that right HERE

Trek Life’s album Everything Changed Nothing produced by Oddisee drops July 27th on iTunes and Aug 10th on CD and VINYL. You can pre-order the album @ ughh.com.

FREE DOWNLOAD – DJ Tommy Blak’s Before Everything Changed mixtape hosted by @J.Bizness + Preview the NEW album on myspace.

    July 20th, 2010

If you’ve ever been to a Trek Life show you know the man behind the wheels controlling the sound very well. Tommy Blak & I have been doing shows together for years now and one thing that is for certain on EVERY tour is that Tommy will raid my laptop for music when I go to sleep lol.

This is the result of a raid that ended up with him finding a folder of a few collaborations that he hadn’t heard before. He got on a missioin to start collecting dropping those songs that came out on various albums with my peers since Price I’ve Paid dropped to get people up to speed before the new album came out.

So…without further or due we present to you the Mixtape: “Before Everything Changed.” An obviously clever play on the album upcoming album titled “Everything Changed Nothing.” My partner in rhyme J.Bizness hosted the mixtape & Brian of 5AP hooked up the cover. Ya’ll you can grab the mixtape right HERE!

Speaking of the upcoming album, for those of ya’ll that want to catch a peak at the album before it drops, please head over to http:myspace.com/treklife and you can preview the WHOLE ALBUM. Please feel free to pre-order it if you like it @ http://ughh.com.

See you at the RELEASE PARTY AT BRIDGES this Saturday July 24th ya’ll. PEACE

Hawdwerk – Off the Clock is dope, straight dope!

    June 25th, 2010

The term “rapper’s, rapper” come with a certain “stigma.” What I often take from it is that said rapper is sort of over the head of the common listener and more in pocket for the well trained (or constantly trained) ear of the hip-hop fanatic.

With that in mind I would have to coin Hawdwerk the “people’s rapper.” This doesn’t mean that he lacks the technical skill, just that he speaks with that skill directly to the common person.

What’s most entertaining about Hawdwerk is that he doesn’t truly compromise anything when he rhymes and still maintains dope. You genuinely feel confident that the way he wrote the rhyme, spit the rhyme and performs the rhyme are all very much in character with him as an individual. That’s one of the most difficult things to accomplish as an emcee and DEFINITELY rare amongst people in general.

His new mixtape Off the Clock is a master peice of blue collar rhyming. Hawdwerk explained that at one point he was working 2 jobs and going to school, that type of work ethic shows in this latest effort. I’m especially a fan of his story telling ability. I suggest you grab this one up and give it a listen. I’m looking forward to a second effort from Hawdwerk & Jansport J, I truly believe that they are honing their individual crafts to begin what could be a very classic record.

Also, Belvi is quickly moving up my list of top 5 new rappers from LA. Looking forward to a project from this guy.

First Trek Life Mixtape “Keep the Receipt” (circa ‘05) Free on treklife.bandcamp.com

    February 3rd, 2010

Keep the Receipt was my first official foot in the door “so to speak.”  It features verses & beats from Evidence, Babu, Rhettamatic, Planet Asia, J Bizness, Aloe Blacc and many others.  It was mixed by Kev Sakoda as well.  We put this out to go with the theme of “Price I’ve Paid“  later on leading to the Oddisee remixes of “Price I’ve Paid” being titled “New Money” (Apparently money was the issue LOL).

Anyway, feel free to hit the store page or directly hit my bandcamp page (treklife.bandcamp.com) & check this out.  I don’t have time to spam your email address, so just leave it.  At the most you may get some instrumentals to albums and exclusives from time to time.  Ain’t nothing wrong with that right?

Hard to believe this is a full 5 years old at this point, time keeps runnin’ and passin’ forreal.
